Height and weight

Result

Enter height and weight. The category names are the usual adult screening bands, not a diagnosis.

How this works

In metric units, BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. In US units it is weight in pounds divided by height in inches squared, times 703. The bands used here are the common adult cutoffs: under 18.5, 18.5 up to 25, 25 up to 30, and 30 or more. Someone with a lot of muscle can land in a higher band without that meaning what the word suggests.

An example

5 feet 10 inches is 70 inches. At 170 pounds the BMI is about 24.4, inside the band often called the normal range. The same body in metric units lands on the same figure.
