Basic calculator
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide, with parentheses.
The result will show here.
About the percent key
The % key divides the number before it by 100. So 200×10% is 20. To add a percent, raise a price, or ask “what percent is this?”, use the percentage calculator.
How this works
Type an expression or use the keys. Multiplication and division happen before addition and subtraction. Parentheses happen first. The equals key, or Enter, shows the result and keeps what you typed so you can see it. C clears. The backspace key removes one character.
The percent key means “divide by 100,” so 50% is 0.5 and 200×10% is 20. It does not mean “add 10% to the previous number.” Use the percentage calculator for that.
An example
Try (12+8)×3. The 12 and 8 add first because of the parentheses, then the 20 is multiplied by 3. The result is 60. Without the parentheses, 12+8×3 is 36, because the multiplication goes first.
