About the percent key
The % key divides the number before it by 100. So 200×10% is 20. To add a percent, raise a price, or ask “what percent is this?”, use the percentage calculator.
How this works
The scientific keys add powers, roots, logarithms, factorial, and sine, cosine, and tangent, plus their inverses. “log” is base 10. “ln” is natural log. π and e are the usual constants. Factorial is for whole numbers from 0 through 170, and 0! is 1.
The Deg button starts in degrees. Press it to switch to radians. Tangent at 90 degrees is left undefined. Square root of a negative number is rejected because this keypad stays in real numbers.
An example
sin(30) in degrees is 0.5. log(1000) is 3. 5! is 120. 2^10 is 1,024. -2^2 is -4, because the power happens before the minus.
